FAQs

Here are the top nine questions we get asked at the shop!

1. Did this building used to be a church?
Our beautiful, historic building was built in 1882 and was indeed a church! From its majestic cathedral windows, intricate stained glass transoms and early American architecture, we instantly fell in love with the property!

2. What was here before you?
The early Methodist settlers of our town quickly outgrew 205 West Main Street after only 10-20 years, and the larger white wooden church a few blocks west of us became their new place of worship. Our building had a beautiful steeple back in the day, but they never got around to adding its bell. Over the past 100+ years, the building was used for a variety of purposes. Prior to becoming The Half Full Nest, a tech company resided here for a about a decade.

3. How long have you been here?
We began renovations on the property in May 2019 and after 4 months of working our tails off, we opened our doors on September 14 of that same year!

4. Is this a multi-dealer shop?
While we are not an antique mall per se, we do like to offer a variety of carefully curated vintage and artisan crafted products. Our mix of merchandise includes a handful of talented dealers who have a space within our shop. Rather than being divided into “booths,” we like to have the spaces blend and flow seamlessly. If you deal in vintage goods or are an artisan looking to expand your business, please contact us for more info on having a space at The Half Full Nest!

5. How has business been through the pandemic? (We get this question A LOT!)
There were definitely some incredibly tough months when most businesses had to shut down. When restaurant dining closed for a second time over the summer, that was another tough time. But thankfully and ever gratefully, our community made a point to support small businesses. Additionally, we found that the quarantine made a lot of people interested in surrounding themselves with things that make them smile- seemingly more than ever before!

6. Where do you get all this stuff?! (Another question we get A LOT!)
We can’t give away ALL our sourcing secrets, 😝 but we score some great finds from auctions & estate sales.

7. Do you acquire vintage/antique pieces from individuals?
We are always interested in seeing people’s collections that need a new home! Pictures of your items can be emailed to us for review. From there we can determine if we have the space and if your pieces will work with our product mix.

8. Do you make house calls?
We LOVE helping people create a space that is unique, beautiful, and within your budget! Our initial visit includes a free consultation where we work on identifying your unique style and assessing your design needs. From there we will present you with a detailed proposal that we carefully create, to make your vision a reality!

9. Does your house look like your shop?
Though our 25 year old home can’t quite compare with our 140 year old shop in terms of character and history, our business philosophy of surrounding yourself with things that make you smile stems from our home! Similarly, it’s a mostly neutral colored, eclectic mix of cherished & unique vintage pieces of all different styles, that mingle with more contemporary finds.
